Once you have your reservoir, you are pretty much set. Normally it's not an issue as there isn't much reason for a dwarf to be next to the volcano. I don't think they are particularly lethal, but they may be annoying and I think they can kill dwarves if they stay close to the volcano long enough. You'll know when it's dangerous when they start to knock around ravens and such with thrown chunks of obsidian. ![]() In the case of volcanos, this is best done early in your fort's life, as I find that magma crabs tend to be attracted to the volcanos, and they are unfortunately pretty accurate. You can then channel from above the reservoir to poke holes in the floor, and build your magma forge there. That way your dorf never needs to run away from the magma, because on his level, there is no magma next to that tile. So basically you need to carve out a reservoir, fortify a piece that is two tiles away from the magma (ie : it has one tile of rock between it and the magma, and that tile of rock does not connect to the reservoir), and then channel the tile between your fortification and the magma from above the level of the lava. Perfect safety suggests fortifications (as building destroyers could theorically destroy floodgates). ![]() Kitfox Discord #modding-discussion channelīronzemurder and Oilfurnace (illustrated) A three step guide:ĭownload DF Classic or install the premium version from Steam or Itch.ioįollow the quickstart guide on the wiki, or see other learning resources (below)Īsk any questions in the ☼Dwarf Fortress Questions Thread☼ - it's always active See the reasons for our rules here, and please report any problems!ĭF can be intimidating, but we're dedicated to helping new players. ![]() Use the ☼Dwarf Fortress Questions Thread☼ Want to start playing?
